It's a Small World!

I still can't believe how smooth my transition to New York has been so far. I am truly blessed that there have been some wonderful people who have reached out to welcome me. On Friday night, one of those gracious welcomers, Susan, who actually grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska invited me to go to a rock musical and dinner with her and her daughters, Sabina and Abby and their friend Gaby and Abby's boyfriend. Abby is actually interning with the Soho Think Tank at the Ohio Theater, where we saw the show - Neil Young's greendale. It was fabulous and hot (no air conditioning) - and I really enjoyed the music, singing and intimacy of the theater. I definitely recommend others to check out more productions by the Soho Think Tank.

After the show we went to dinner at Hundred Acres, a new restaurant in Soho. We had a lovely dinner and learned more about our many connections. I found out that Susan and I have much in common - marathon running, being from Nebraska, and we were both Chi Omegas at UNL. It is definitely a small world...but even smaller. At dinner Susan announced to the waiter that I had just moved here from Nebraska. Then he proceeded to say that he was also from Nebraska! Turns out he is from Omaha and graduated the same year as me and knew one of my elementary school friends. Now how crazy is that?! There are Nebraskans everywhere out here! :) Here's a photo from that night - (left to right) Abby's boyfriend and Abby, Sabina, Gaby, me and Susan. Photo taken by our waiter, Joey, from Omaha.

I'm hoping to meet more Nebraskans at this Nebraskan Networking event on Tuesday night. Lynne, my new NYC mentor who is also from Nebraska, has organized the event and is having it on her building's rooftop. I'm really looking forward to it!

So who was the childhood friend the waiter new? I'm glad to hear your having such an easy time networking...though I wasn't worried, you are Carly of course!

Big Hugs,
