Philip survived a week of partying and riding at RAGBRAI (Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa) and arrived home late Sunday night. On Monday he finally got a much needed haircut after months growing it out. I didn't recognize him at first, but I really like it. This week was our first time living together by ourselves without guests. So far, it has been great. I love having him here and being able to do make dinner together, explore the city together and getting our apartment all organized.
On Tuesday night we went to the Nebraskan Networking event on a rooftop and met some more wonderful fellow Nebraskans here in the city. My friend Kiersten has a couple really close friends, Amy and Melissa, here who we really got to know and have seen since that night. I also added myself to the email list for the next Nebraskan Society party where they are planning to bring in Valentino's pizza and Runzas during the Husker game! I can't wait. Here's a photo of Philip and I on the rooftop - you can't really see the city skyline in the back...but it was a gorgeous view!
After seeing Susan at the Nebraskan Networking event we decided to go running together Wednesday and Thursday morning. I met her at her place and we ran through Central Park. It was great to run with someone who knows all the trails and can point out some hidden treasures...like the water fall right before the brutal Harlem Hill, the Boathouse where you can have lunch, Tavern on the Green for some drinks and the Carousel that I'll have to ride someday. Central Park is absolutely beautiful and definitely needed and appreciated in this city.
I had a big interview on Thursday afternoon at a small public relations firm. It went really well. I was there for two and a half hours and met a lot of the Directors and the President. I have a really good feeling about the company and I hope I hear back from them soon. Income would definitely be nice right now! To celebrate the interview, Philip and I went out for dinner at a Turkish restaurant down the street called La Turka. Hopefully we'll have even more to celebrate soon!
